Today, we grilled out with our friends Mandy and Lyam at Ukumehame Beach. They brought their awesome VW camper van. They have a little one-year-old girl, Lolah, and we were babysitting our other friends' little two-year-old girl, Rebekah, so we took turns going out on the water. Brannon and Lyam took the boards out first and Brannon tried his hand at paddleboarding. We've both always wanted to at least try it. It's a little harder to balance than it looks - your center of gravity is way different since you're not lying down on the board to paddle, like when you're surfing - so he quickly ditched the paddle and switched to surfing. The water was pretty calm, so the waves were few and far between. But he did catch one and ride it in (and I missed getting a picture of it!). Then it was the girls' turn to go out before the sun set. I also tried my hand at paddleboarding, but also found it was harder to balance than I thought. But the waves that were coming in weren't really big enough to ride, so I just paddled around a little bit while on my knees, then came in when it was a little darker. The sunset was really beautiful. The clouds and the colors in the sky were just perfect. And they just kept getting more perfect.
