Glimpse of the Road - Branson, MO; Compton Ridge Campground

We received 3 nights of free camping to Compton Ridge Campground in Branson, MO through Camping World. I knew they'd try to sell us something (and they did), but we didn't buy and still got 3 nights of free camping plus a $50 gift certificate to Camping World (score!). We needed to take a second "trial trip" anyway, continuing to make our lists of things forgotten. The campground is right in the middle of thick woods in Branson, although it's only about a mile from Silver Dollar City, and minutes from Branson West. So it was only about 45 minutes from where we live on the south side of Springfield. This was another spontaneous trip (we made reservations the day before). Each site is heavily surrounded by woods, so it feels very private - like you could be the only ones there. A great time for reflection and rejuvenation.

Here's a little glimpse of the last couple days...
Brannon worked inside...

...while Ember and I spent some time outside - I worked on trip planning and other miscellaneous correspondence, while she played in her new go-pod by KidCo (I LOVE that thing!). We also take breaks and go on walks around the park. Yesterday on our walk, she fell asleep in her stroller (notice her cute little foot propped up on her stroller rail), and she stayed asleep for 2 HOURS!! That doesn't happen! She woke up periodically (about 7 times actually) to look to make sure I was still there, then close her eyes again and drift back to sleep. It was raining off and on, and she always seems to sleep better when it rains (she gets that from me). Plus, we were outside, and my girl LOVES to be outside.

Ember "Firsts"

We had a few Ember "firsts" while we were here. First time to try baby led weaning...

(Haha, I LOVE that look on her face.)

First time to swim in a pool...

(a saltwater pool actually)

First time to take a bath in a public shower house...

(Kinda looks gross. But I made sure she didn't touch anything.)

Bonus Ember photos: I love how this kid can fall asleep anywhere!

And every now and then (when your kid wakes you up at 5am and decides not to go back to sleep), Momma's got to take an afternoon snooze with Baby, too.

So, there ya go. There's a glimpse into life on the road for this trip. More to come...

LOVE it!!! Can't wait to meet you all at a campground. She is going to be the happiest baby being outside all the time. :)
