Today, we drove to Makena to hit Big Beach. I had only been once before several years back, and Brannon had never been. Big Beach has a shore break (waves break right on the shore as opposed to farther out and rolling in), and there are usually boogie boarders and skim boarders all along the shore. It's a quick ride, because if you don't jump off the wave in time, you get slammed right into the sand on the shore (hello, sand burns). And if you don't enter the water at the right time or the right way, you get slammed into the sand by those same powerful waves. It makes playing in the water a bit more exciting. :) So Brannon went boogie boarding (I didn't want to risk possible impact or else I would've been right there beside him). I don't know if he's ever really been boogie boarding - or at least he hadn't been in years. But he enjoyed it. You kinda get to feel like a kid again when you play in the water. Then we decided to take a few pictures of me and my growing belly in the water. We're trying to take a bunch in several different places, and definitely trying to take advantage of the incredible beauty in Maui while we're here. I got a new sarong that I love, and thought it would look pretty against the blue water and brown sand. And then the water came up a bit farther and gave me a good soak. Haha. But at least we got a few memorable shots.
It was a beautiful day in Makena, and certainly a wonderful day to be at the beach. Gonna miss the water when we leave!
